Honeywell (NYSE: HON) Burdick & Jackson announced today the launch of its line of B&J Brand® liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC-MS) grade high-purity solvents.
Burdick & Jackson used its proprietary purification technology to make the new solvents, which help to optimize the performance of sensitive LC-MS instruments. The new solvents enable users of these instruments to gain increased confidence in their analysis.
“Scientists use high-purity solvents to analyze promising compounds for modern drug discovery and demanding lab analysis,” said Scott Gaddis, global business manager for Honeywell Burdick & Jackson. “Trace impurities that went undetected just a few years ago can now cause inaccurate results or damage to LC-MS instruments. Our new high-purity solvents give researchers peace of mind by eliminating a major source of variability.”
Burdick & Jackson’s new LC-MS line includes acetonitrile, methanol and water as well as mobile phase blends including 0.1% TFA in acetonitrile, 0.1% TFA in water, 0.1% formic in acetonitrile and 0.1% TFA in water. Solvents are available in 1L and 2.5L wide-mouth bottles.
Honeywell Burdick & Jackson solvents also are used in other laboratory analysis such as high purity/liquid chromatography, or HPLC. The business also offers reagents used in DNA and protein synthesis.
Burdick & Jackson pioneered the technology to purify solvents more than 45 years ago, and is still a recognized leader in meeting the needs of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries worldwide. B&J develops and manufactures its full line of high purity solvents at facilities in Muskegon, Mich., Seelze, Germany and Ulsan, Korea.
