Celtic Catalysts - Chiral Catalysis and the Production of Chiral IntermediatesCeltic Catalysts is an innovative chemical development company based in Ireland, focused on providing its end-user clients and partners in the pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries with a pioneering chemistry for asymmetric synthesis. The company is specifically focused on the development of the most cost-effective routes to making chiral intermediates and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API). In addition to possessing a high level of practical expertise in synthesis and process development, Celtic Catalysts' key strengths are in the application of both public domain and proprietary, asymmetric, catalytic technology to optimise reaction efficiency and product purity. We are fully committed to providing real and tangible benefits to our customers by providing them with a range of key products and services. CHIRAL INTERMEDIATESCeltic Catalysts has a wide range of cyclic intermediates available. These, previously difficult to obtain, compounds contain a number of functional handles which allow these building blocks to be elaborated upon and tuned, according to preference of chemical properties. These compounds give access to a wide range of highly functionalised structural motifs common to many pharmaceutically important molecules and thus effectively represent a new chiral pool from which far more complex and elaborate structures can be built. These intermediates are immediately available in up to kilogram scale and, through its manufacturing partnerships, Celtic Catalysts is in a position to supply bulk quantities, if required. Celtic Catalysts works with its clients to develop efficient synthetic routes to molecules that contain these cyclic and other chiral motifs. Celtic Catalysts' approach has already been validated in the form of collaborative efforts with several major pharmaceutical firms. ROUTE DEVELOPMENT Celtic Catalysts' laboratory-based staff bring to bear many years of experience and complementary expertise that enable the company to address the most challenging synthetic problems. In addition, an internationally recognised scientific advisory board (including Nobel prize winner K. Barry Sharpless) provides a powerful complementary resource to the company's in-house skills. A uniquely interactive relationship exists between the scientific advisory board and the management and scientific teams of the company. CHIRAL TRANSFORMATIONSCombined with these attributes, we also have a portfolio of proprietary catalysts that enables us to carry out industrially useful chiral transformations including amongst others:
However, because our philosophy is to help our customers implement the best manufacturing solutions, we will never try to force our catalyst technology if it is not the most appropriate solution. This makes us the partner of choice for:
CUSTOM SYNTHESIS / MANUFACTURING As experts in organic synthesis (and chiral synthesis in particular) we can provide our customers and partners with desired compounds that can be efficiently synthesised and scaled up in the laboratory to a kilogram scale. At this point, the process can be transferred to our manufacturing partners (GMP available if required) for pilot / bulk quantities. Using our cyclic chiral intermediates as scaffolds, we also provide biotechnology and emerging pharmaceutical companies with custom synthesis of focused libraries based upon these (and other) templates.
