Toepffer Lab Systems have produced and delivered glove boxes for 30 years. The standard or custom designed glove boxes are made from different materials like vinyl, acrylic, polycarbonate, aluminium or stainless-steel. They are mostly needed in research laboratories. A lot of different environments can be controlled inside the glove boxes; strict anaerobic atmosphere can be maintained as well as hypoxic or hyperopic atmosphere. There are humidity controlled chambers as well as dry or temperature controlled ones. Dimensions of the glove boxes are freely selectable in a wide range. Acrylic, polycarbonate or vinyl glove boxesAcrylic or polycarbonate glove boxes or those made of flexible vinyl can be produced in a wide range of dimensions. The Viewing screen can be made of laminated safety glass. Large openings are available for easily placing large devices inside the chamber. Many different airlocks (round or square – purged or vacuum ones) can be mounted on the chamber. The glove boxes can be purged with gases like nitrogen, argon or helium or with mixed gases, or they can work with a catalyst to maintain anoxic or strict anaerobic atmosphere with a defined humidity. Over-pressure or under-pressure is available. Flexible vinyl glove boxThe Flexible vinyl glove boxes are mostly used for microbiological, biochemical or biophysical applications. The required environment like a strict anaerobic and humid atmosphere is maintained by the help of palladium catalyst and hydrogen. But it’s also possible to work under hypoxic or hyperopic conditions controlled by adding the needed amounts of gases like nitrogen, CO2 or oxygen. Changing between anaerobic and hypoxic conditions is easy. The flexibility of the chamber, the large dimensions and the wide sleeves allow a very comfortable working with these vinyl glove boxes. Hypoxic glove boxesHypoxic glove boxes can be delivered in acrylic, aluminium or flexible vinyl versions. The hypoxic atmosphere is controlled by an oxygen controller. CO2 can be controlled additionally. The chamber can be temperature controlled and humidified or dried. Cell culture is possible in special humidified incubation boxes. Under-pressure and overpressure is possible to protect staff and / or products. Inert glove boxesInert glove boxes are available as stainless-steel chambers or aluminium ones. External gas purification systems are available. It’s possible to maintain totally inert atmosphere with oxygen and humidity lower than 1 ppm, but it’s also possible to work without oxygen but with a very low or controlled humidity. Only drying of the atmosphere is also possible. Basic acrylic or vinyl glove boxesFor many applications the user needs a small glove box, sometimes only for a short time test. Those small glove boxes with a minimum of features are deliverable. A lot of options are available. Normally these basic glove boxes work with gas purging and are delivered with an individually adjustable overpressure system. These basic glove boxes are deliverable in acrylic or as flexible vinyl chamber.
