Blue Mountain Quality Resources - Life Science Equipment Maintenance Management

Maintenance personnel are under constant pressure to improve productivity and lower costs of manufacturing, which means organizing and prioritizing work more efficiently. These gains however must be achieved without compromising product quality, regulatory requirements or safety.

Blue Mountain Regulatory Asset Manager was designed to strike that balance. Built specifically for the rigorous life science business practices, it has complete and robust maintenance management features with integral functionality to maintain control over costs and compliance requirements.

Maintenance management designed for life sciences

  • Full work request and work order system for managing work for critical and non-critical (GMP and non-GMP) assets, with flexibility in scheduling recurring and sporadic activity including meter-based scheduling
  • Hierarchy of assets, based on location and use in a system, simplifies coordinating all activity coming due in a particular area and provides a single location to find all activity performed within systems
  • Inventory management with unit costs and reorder points, part use planning, where used analysis and inventory requirements forecasting
  • Labor planning and forecasting tools to keep track of labour and labour costs associated with work by craft and individual and future labour requirements
  • Integral like-for-like replacement parts management and automatic routing for electronic change control signatures reduce downtime waiting for approvals
  • Failure coding and key performance indicator (KPI) analysis to discover trends and analyze performance

Confirms to your business processes

Blue Mountain Regulatory Asset Manager conforms easily to your existing business process rules while also providing opportunities to implement industry best practices for efficiency, productivity and collaboration. Records within the application pass through a completely configurable series of steps or statuses that correspond to your business process rules, with the current status of the record and the date and time the record entered that status prominently displayed and available for queries and reports.

Certain work requests, for example, may pass through a review board for approvals and signoffs before the work is generated. After work is completed, some work may require review before the work can be closed out.

Multiple process rules may be defined for each record type to accommodate various situations. For example, unplanned maintenance would likely have a different process than planned maintenance; work request on a GMP critical asset would have a different process than a work request to replace an office light bulb.

Within each state for the various rules different users can have different rights and obligations. For example, what signatures are required and who can sign are determined for each state. The specific order that signatures should be applied can even be enforced.

The right to change the state of a record, either forward to the next primary state or to an alternate state such as "Cancel" or "On hold", can be restricted. Additionally, records can be configured to advance to the next state automatically once all appropriate signatures have been applied. Notifications can go out to specific individuals and groups when a record state changes or when specified fields are changed.

Control maintenance processes

To achieve complete control over records, many options are available down to the field level for each state. Individual fields can be enabled only during certain states, with rights to edit enabled fields limited to specific groups depending on the current state.

For example, some fields are only relevant when the work is being performed, not available during an approval state and should not be changed after the work is completed. Similarly certain fields may be required before a record can progress to the next state. Some fields, if changed, may invalidate any signatures already gathered in that state.
