Rovi Alcala - Contract Manufacturing Services for Solid Pharmaceutical Forms

Since 2010, Rovi Alcala has provided contract manufacturing services for solid pharmaceutical forms in its new FDA-approved production site. This plant was acquired from the Merck Sharp and Dohme group, which had been manufacturing and packaging pharmaceutical products since 1969 with high compliance and a history of productivity and performance.

Rovi Alcala has one of the biggest state-of-the-art FDA-approved plants for solid forms in Europe:

• 83,000m² of land dedicated to the production, packaging and storage of solid forms
• 180 well-trained and experienced staff members
• Flexible and large production available (global capacity of 3,000 million tablets/year)

Contract manufacturing services for large-volume production

We have highly competitive costs thanks to our high-capacity roller compactor (dry granulation) and the highest quality tablets through our high-shear granulation systems (wet granulation).

Five double-side compression presses are available to provide flexible as well as large-volume production. In addition, three film coaters are available to cover different batch sizes.

Production, testing, packaging and storage services for solid pharmaceuticals

Rovi Alcala has a huge total and free capacity available to comply with medium to very large production (batches from 100kg up to 1,000kg). Flexible and large-volume packaging equipment is available to fulfil various customer needs, and 15 packaging lines have been installed including high-speed lines and very flexible lines for customised presentations. Further capabilities and features include:

• Blisters or aluminium pouches
• Datamatrix
• High-tech vision system, cartoning, labelling, marking, overwrapping and casepacking capabilities for each packaging line
• A fully equipped laboratory to provide quick and reliable results (with chemical and microbiological capabilities)
• Integrated storage capability though our sizeable warehouse (8,000 pallets) with includes a cold room at 2ºC to 8ºC (400 pallets)

Access to worldwide pharmaceutical solids markets

We provide access to all markets worldwide and our plant is GMP and FDA approved. We also hold Japanese, Mexican, Brazilian and Gulf countries approvals. Thanks to such an extensive track record of certifications, products manufactured by Rovi Alcala are distributed in more than 40 countries.

Our quality department has a dedicated building (4,600m²) which includes a microbiology lab, chemistry lab and quality assurance department. Our integrated management system is built around six sigma, lean manufacturing, 5S, visual management, and quality management system (QMS) to ensure reliable and consistent quality as well as compliance with global regulatory requirements.
