VINS Bioproducts - Snake Venom Antiserum, Rabies Antiserum and Anti-Sera ProductsVINS Bioproducts Limited (VINS) was founded by a group of professionals with proven expertise in scientific research, finance and management, with the aim of producing life saving drugs for diseases endemic in India and other less developed countries. VINS’ state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is located 40km from Hyderabad (The Biotech Hub of India) in the serene greenery and away from polluting industries. VINS produces anti-sera products like snake venom antiserum, rabies antiserum, and other anti-sera for scorpion bites, diphtheria, tetanus, gas gangrene. State and central government agencies and hospitals in India purchase the anti-sera products in large volumes while the retail distribution is done through its widespread distribution network which caters to medical professionals and retailers. About 30% of the sales come from exports to countries including Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and African countries. SNAKE VENOM ANTISERUMThe first product from VINS’ stable - the snake venom antiserum, launched in 2000 - was a runaway success. Today VINS is the major player in the Indian market for snake venom antiserum with 40% market share and has captured a sizeable chunk of the export market. Snake venom antiserum is an equine-based immunoglobulin, enzyme treated and is available in liquid and lyophilized forms for treatment against snake bites from cobra, Russell's viper, common krait and saw-scaled viper. RABIES ANTISERUMEncouraged by this success, VINS went ahead to develop and produce the rabies antiserum and other anti-sera products. According to the World Health Organisation, the demand for rabies antiserum is huge and there is an acute shortage in its supply, which proves that VINS is rightly positioned in developing and producing the same. While rabies antiserum was launched in 2002, other anti-sera products for scorpion bites, diphtheria, tetanus, gas gangrene are in the pipeline and ready for launch.
