Blackburn-based Presspart Manufacturing Ltd, the world’s leading provider of specialist metal components to the pharmaceutical industry, today announced it has acquired Nemo, a Spanish-based provider of plastic components to the pharmaceutical and medical industry. The acquisition is an important step in Presspart’s growth strategy and will extend the business’ stronghold as the main supplier of precision components to the medical market, as well as strengthen the business’ global position.

The acquisition will leverage the complementary product offerings of these two market leading companies. Presspart is an established manufacturer of metal cans for metered dose inhalers and Nemo provides the plastic actuators for the same devices, through which the drug is delivered. Presspart’s extended product portfolio will provide the opportunity to offer novel solutions to the pharmaceutical industry, including assembled drug delivery devices.

Nemo will continue to operate from Spain, and Ramon Marques, managing director of Nemo, will continue in his current role. Ramon now joins the Presspart executive management team, who directly report to Colin Watling, chairman of Presspart. The Spanish workforce will see no immediate effects under the new ownership of Presspart.

Colin Watling, chairman of Presspart Manufacturing Ltd, comments: “The acquisition provides a unique opportunity to bring together two successful businesses, combining expertise and continued innovation to realise our commitment to our customers, and ultimately help millions of people live healthier lives.” He continues: “With 110 talented employees, a world class clean room facility and supplying to an impressive global customer base, Nemo will be an excellent strategic fit within our established global pharmaceutical business.”

Ramon Marques, Nemo’s managing director, comments: “After 50yrs of family ownership, I am delighted our company is joining another family owned company which shares similar values. Nemo’s success has been based upon technical excellence and product innovation; Presspart has these same strengths and I look forward to seeing the business grow further still.”
