CFB - Calcium Phosphate Excipients for Tablet and Capsule Products

As a market leader in speciality phosphates, Chemische Fabrik Budenheim (CFB / Budenheim) is dedicated to providing innovative calcium phosphates used as excipients and calcium sources in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical formulations.

CFB serves the worldwide pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries with the maximum value in quality and service. Products include calcium phosphates for direct compression and pharma and food grade phosphate salts.

CALCIUM PHOSPHATES FOR DIRECT COMPRESSION

We offer various types of calcium phosphates for direct compression. These differ in bulk density and particle size and are sold under the following brand names:

  • DI-CAFOS® A - dicalcium phosphate anhydrous
  • DI-CAFOS® - dicalcium phosphate di-hydrate
  • TRI-CAFOS® S - tricalcium phosphate

MORE CALCIUM OR SMALLER TABLETS

DI-CAFOS® A is a unique, directly-compressible DCP anhydrous grade, developed by Budenheim. It exhibits a bulk density of 1,300g/l to 1,400g/l, which is significantly higher than the 700g/l to 800g/l typically found with other commercial grades of directly-compressible DCPA.

DI-CAFOS® A gives pharmaceutical and nutraceutical formulators the flexibility to choose between creating smaller tablets while maintaining the same calcium and phosphorus content, or keeping tablet sizes constant while increasing the calcium and phosphorus claim on the label.

In addition to excellent flowing and tabletting properties, DI-CAFOS® A also exhibits other important features resulting from the extremely high bulk density:

  • Bigger batch size
  • Faster discharging during tabletting or capsule-filling process
  • Higher production throughput.

HIGH PURITY PHOSPHATES

Our calcium phosphates fulfil all the requirements of major pharmacopeias (e.g. USP, Pharm. Eur. (PE), Pharm. Jap. (PJ)) and food regulations (e.g. FCC, EC/96/77).

CFB was one of the first chemical companies in Germany to reach ISO 9001 and 14001 certification. CFB has installed a HACCP system and operates in accordance to current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).

The low lead content of our dicalcium and tricalcium phosphates enables customers to formulate calcium supplements in compliance to California Proposition 65.

PHARMA / FOOD GRADE PHOSPHATE SALTS

Apart from calcium phosphates, Budenheim offers a wide range of pharma and food grade phosphates such as:

  • Magnesium phosphates
  • Ferric pyrophosphates and orthophosphates
  • Sodium phosphates
  • Potassium phosphates

These are used as ingredients, buffers and efficient mineral sources.
