The IKA Group is a global market leader for laboratory equipment, analytical and process technology. Magnetic stirrers, overhead stirrers, dispersers, shakers, mills, rotary evaporator, calorimeters, laboratory reactors and incubation shakers make up the laboratory and analytical equipment portfolio, while the process technology section offers solutions for production scale stirring, mixing and kneading applications.
The company is headquartered in Staufen, Germany, with subsidiaries in the US, China, India, Malaysia, Brazil and Japan. In 2010, the company employed 650 people and reported sales of €85.5m ($113.5m). Established in 1910, IKA can now look back on more than a century of company history.
IKA magnetic stirrers are the world's best-selling professional magnetic stirrers. There is a complete range of IKA magnetic stirrers to handle various quantities, either with or without heating capabilities. Used with open or closed vessels, IKA magnetic stirrers easily master even complex tasks. They also enable multiple syntheses in up to 36 vessels simultaneously.
Because IKA magnetic stirrers require 25% less energy than other manufacturers' products, IKA devices are good for the environment and also keep your energy costs low. Functionality, safety, and longevity are the main focus in the development of IKA's magnetic stirrers.
IKA's ULTRA-TURRAX is the epitome of first-rate dispersing devices. Whether used for homogenising, emulsifying or suspending, IKA's dispersers enable the best possible results. The digital display allows you to keep track of the speed range up to 24,000 revolutions per minute, starting softly of course. Due to their broad spectrum of dispersing tools, IKA dispersers are highly effective for a variety uses. Common disperser uses include: homogenisation of effluent samples, dispersing tasks under vacuum pressure, and PCR analysis. IKA dispersers know no limits when it comes to professional particle reduction.
IKA oxygen bomb calorimeters are the market leaders when it comes to determining the calorific values of liquid and solid samples. The selection of IKA oxygen bomb calorimeters is optimally geared towards various different demands. The calorimeter portfolio includes C 200, C 2000 and C 5000 calorimeters. The entry-level model C 200, the most cost-effective calorimeter, is easily operated manually. With a low purchase cost, the C 200 is an ideal calorimeter for learning and teaching purposes.
The C 2000 offers a high level of automation along with being easy to handle. The C 5000 is the only calorimeter of its kind worldwide, combining three methods into one device. The C 5000 enables users to determine adiabatic, isoperibolic and dynamic (reduced time) calorific values.
The new IKA conical mixer is ideal for the mixing of free flowing solids, whereas the conical dryer has been designed for vacuum contact drying of different solvent humid solids. Both can be used to process products with different bulk densities and particle sizes. The conical mixer drying vessel guarantees a complete product discharge and can easily be thoroughly cleaned. The vessel of the basic version mixer is single walled.
The IKA conical dryer vessel and cover are equipped with a double jacket for heating. This jacket ensures optimum energy input, uniform humidity and temperature distribution throughout the whole product area. The product is intensively mixed by a special spiral agitator, which - in case of the dryer - can also be heated. Resulting solvent vapours are extracted by a reversible flow dust filter. The conical mixer and conical dryer are available with optional cover tilting device and vessel slewing mechanism. The inclination of the working vessel offers important advantages in mixing of the complete product, as gravitation additionally effects on the product to be mixed/dried.
IKA agitators are ideal for acceleration of solution processes and syntheses, temperature exchanges within a medium as well as the mixing of easily mixable liquids and solids. The agitator's primary application is the processing of flowable mixtures in a low to medium viscosity range. Agitators can be optionally equipped with a fast propeller, an axial turbine, a stirring disk, a toothed disk, an IBC cup stirrer, or a slow and powerful anchor stirrer.
The IKA ROTOTRON® jet stream agitator stands out due to an extremely strong axial conveying effect. Even when it comes to less-than-optimal vessel dimensions and shapes, the jet stream agitator ensures a very intensive recirculation of the mixture while using relatively low energy input.
All metal parts of the IKA agitators which come in contact with the product are made of high-quality stainless steel. IKA agitators are available in several different sizes and designs according to the GMP and/or ATEX guidelines. Furthermore, upon customer request they can also be delivered with matching stands and fastening accessories.
