Sartorius AG presents the new Mikro-Dismembrator S, a laboratory ball mill designed for fast disintegration of brittle, hard or frozen materials. A special focus of its range of applications is homogenization of tissue samples frozen in liquid nitrogen that have been taken for diagnostic purposes.
The Mikro-Dismembrator S enables samples to be shaken with grinding balls at a frequency of 3,000 min-1, which provides faster homogenization than with any other instrument as a result. This helps to prevent interfering degradation processes during isolation of RNA or proteins. Digital control of both the shaking time and the frequency ensures reproducible results within test series and serial experiments.
Following extensive technical redesigning, the Mikro-Dismembrator S now features improved mechanical characteristics for long-term use, reproducible action and an improved hood safety switch for user protection. The voltage of the homogenizer can be switched between 230 V/50 Hz and 115 V/60 Hz.
The Mikro-Dismembrator S with its high-performance features completes the line of homogenizers offered by Sartorius, including the Mikro-Dismembrator U for standard applications, the Potter S Homogenizer and the LABSONIC ultrasonic homogenizers.
