Laminar Medica - Insulated Shipping Systems

Laminar Medica specialises in the design, test, manufacture and qualification of insulated shipping systems, used by the pharmaceutical and biotech industries globally. These systems protect vaccines, drugs, blood and associated medical products from extremes of temperature during transportation.

With manufacturing facilities in the UK, Vodnany, the Czech Republic, and the addition of a warehouse facility in Manheim, Germany, we are able to provide customers with cost-effective and rapid service. Other global sites are planned for the future as part of our objective to become the industry’s leading supply partner.

CHILLED SHIPPING SYSTEMS

We have a range of systems available to keep products chilled during transportation. Our Chilltherm® range of fully qualified +2°C to +8°C shipping systems have had vast amounts of test and qualification work completed, and reports are available without lengthy test projects. There are eight sizes available and all have been tested using a range of different product types and durations.

We also design systems for chilled transportation using vacuum insulation panels. Advantages of these over EPS systems are that they have five to eight times the insulating value of EPS, and they can be supplied in flat pack form, which is especially important if storage space is an issue.

Our ChillPouch™ range of shipping pouches is designed for small volume, short duration chilled shipments. The padded design offers both temperature and physical protection for products.

We also have a selection of systems which use our MediPhase® 2-8 phase change material. This innovative technology provides more robust packaging solutions and virtually eliminates the problem of temperature excursions when shipping between +2°C to +8°C. System weights are reduced from conventional shippers and packaging procedures are simplified.

FROZEN SHIPPING SYSTEMS

Our Freezetherm® range of shippers has been tested and qualified to +25°C average temperature challenge and we can provide guideline data for the performance of dry ice. Qualification reports are also available for purchase to demonstrate compliance to GDP.

Our MediPhase® -15 phase change material eliminates the many drawbacks associated with the use of dry ice in shipments that need to be kept frozen. MediPhase® is a safe, salt based, reusable material which is more suitable than dry ice for shipping delicate products where there is a danger of C02 migration into the packaging.

TEMPERATE (+15°C TO +30°C) TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING SYSTEMS

Due to increasing regulatory pressure, this phase change material has been developed for shipping products that need to be transported under controlled temperate conditions between +15°C to +25°C.

This PCM is non-toxic and salt based and acts as a buffer with resistances to both higher and lower ambient temperatures. This is extremely useful since it is often difficult to predict whether the temperature outside the container will be warmer or cooler than the product being shipped.

RE-USEABLE THERMOPORTER SHIPPING SYSTEMS

Our ThermoPorter® system has been specifically developed for multiple re-use. The flat-pack construction facilitates cost-effective return shipping and high-tech vacuum insulation keeps efficiency up and bulk down. There is a range of sizes available and systems can be configured and qualified for specific applications.

Our MediPorter range of containers are made of polypropylene and polyethylene and contain Laminar’s VacTherm® panels which provide unprecedented thermal performance and offer increased product payload. MediPorters can be used for local or national distribution for medical couriers, pharmacies, blood services and wholesalers and are ideal for use where there is a return to base infrastructure.

LABORATORY TESTING FACILITIES

Laminar’s purpose built test and qualification laboratory is the largest in Europe for temperature controlled packaging and we offer full implementation support. Our customers can take advantage of our laboratory facilities to test their own shipping systems to meet the increasingly stringent quality assurance demands.
