DSM Nutritional Products is a global supplier of vitamins, carotenoids and other fine chemicals to the food, feed, health and cosmetics industries.

VITAMINS, CITRIC ACID AND CAROTENOIDS FOR BEVERAGES, FOOD AND DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS

Beverages: soft and functional drinks represent one of the largest end-users for the HNH business unit: carotenoids (beta-carotene) are used for coloring, vitamins are used to improve the nutritional value, and citric acid provides the correct acidity.

Food: cereal manufacturers use vitamins and other nutritional ingredients to fortify their products. Vitamins are also essential ingredients of infant food. Other users are dairy and margarine producers as well as functional food or processed food producers.

Dietary supplements: our vitamins are used in dietary supplements, OTCs and pharmaceuticals, in various forms like tablets or capsules, either alone or as a blend of active ingredients. Carotenoids are used for colouring as well as for the additional health benefit they can provide.

VITAMINS

DSM Nutritional Products can supply the complete range of vitamins for all possible uses. DSM vitamins are available in many forms, depending on the vitamin and application: crystalline, as oil, with a protective coating or in a protective matrix as a dry powder.

CITRIC ACID

DSM citric acid is a natural, odourless and colourless crystalline substance with a pleasantly refreshing acidulous taste. Our citric acid is available in anhydrous and monohydrate forms, as trisodium citrate dihydrate and monosodium citrate in various granulations, and as aqueous solutions.

CAROTENOIDS

Carotenoids are the pigments that give color to egg yolks, tomatoes, fungi, leaves, fruits, and flowers. They also occur in crustaceans, certain fish species, feathers and insects. They cannot be made in the body and must be obtained in the diet. DSM’s carotenoids are used for food coloration and fortification, as well as in dietary supplements.

NUTRACEUTICALS – ROPUFA®, TEAVIGO™, CAROCARE®, OPTISHARP™, REDIVIVO™, LAFTI®, ALL-Q™, BONISTEIN™ AND HIDROX®

HIDROX® is produced from fresh, organically grown olives. HIDROX® contains Olive Polyphenols, predominantly Hydroxytyrosol, an exceptionally potent antioxidant. The research shows that HIDROX® may help reduce inflammation Joint Health. HIDROX® is also suitable for application in dietary supplements, foods and beverages.

ROPUFA® is a range of PUFAs (omega 3 and 6) in the form of oils, powders and emulsions which are highly refined, exceptionally stable and have a neutral taste and odour.

TEAVIGO™ is the active component of green tea in pure form with manifold health benefits. In opposite to conventional tea extracts TEAVIGO™ does not significantly alter taste and appearance of foods and thus can be easily used in a large range of foods or supplements.

CAROCARE® is a microorganism produced â-carotene with high purity, and a precursor of vitamin A.

OPTISHARP™ is the brand name of DSM’s Zeaxanthin, a carotenoid that accumulates in the eye to protect the macula from damaging blue light. OPTISHARP™ together with DSM’s lutein, is beneficial for eye health and may help to reduce the risk of AMD and cataracts.

REDIVIVO™ lycopene formulations are specifically designed for coloration purposes and fortification of foods and beverage. It may prevent oxidation of low lypoproteins and thus atherosclerosis and coronary heart diseases.
