Polpharma has called into being an environmental sustainability program.

Polpharma achieves its business aims whilst respecting the natural environment, and takes all possible actions to reduce and eliminate risks for the environment caused by manufacturing activities. One of such actions has been the launch of the environmental sustainability program.

The program is focused on:

  • Integrated management of environmental sustainability
  • Waste management efficiency improvement
  • Thermal and electrical energy saving programs
  • Green chemistry and solvent recovery initiatives
  • River and deep water management effectiveness
  • Trending and improvement

The idea of environmental sustainability was defined for the first time in the report 'Our Common Future' in the year 1987, developed by World Commission on Environment and Development. Sustainable development was defined as the process which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Environmental sustainability is therefore the ability to maintain functioning of human society together with the quality of all living species and rational depletion of natural resources.

Everybody is responsible for what happens within our planet and in what condition we will hand it down to posterity. Natural resources are shrinking and environment pollution is growing at an alarming rate, becoming more and more environmentally hazardous.
