KLÖCKNER PENTAPLAST specialises in the design and manufacture of rigid PVC films for packaging pharmaceutical products. PVC pharmaceutical barrier films are highly effective for protecting pharmaceutical products and our sector leading ®PENTAPHARM mono films are used for blister packaging all over the world.

®PENTAPHARM MONO FILMS - BLISTER PACKAGING FOR PHARMACEUTICALS

®PENTAPHARM mono layer films are plasticizer-free, calandered rigid PVC films for economic viable standard blister packaging. With their excellent thermoformability, good chemical resistance and optimised protection they became a world standard in pharmaceutical packaging.

In three product groups (homopolymer, copolymer and high copolymer films) we cover applications up to high demanding blister shapes and high-speed processing without any problem. ®PENTAPHARM is produced globally to identical recipes.

®PENTAPHARM HIGH BARRIER FILMS

These are offered in several specialised film laminate structures to fulfill the highest demands of your pharmaceuticals. Thus, ®PENTAPHARM alfoil polymer film is a 'dial-in' climatic protection. With variable PVdC coatings and a wide range of specific laminate structures are attained high moisture, oxygen and aroma barriers at high performance and efficiency. The duplex and triplex structures of ®PENTAPHARM alfoil polymer film are i.e. ideal for high performance blister packaging, mono dose applications and peelable supporsitories.

®PENTAPHARM COC combines cyclic olefin copolymers with other approved polymer materials. Processing parameters and barrier properties can be optimised using ®PENTAPHARM COC, while the packed product is in contact with well known, registerd laminate materials. ®PENTAPHARM COC has demonstrated ist excellent processability on equipment by all leading blister machine manufacturers.

®PENTAPHARM ACLAR® is a well-proven and established laminate with unsurpassed moisture barrier properties. Very few films combine the wide range of desireable properties inherent in ®PENTAPHARM ACLAR® such as:

• High transparency and crystal clear barrier films
• Water vapour transmission rates below 0.08g/m²/day (ASTM F1249, 38°C, 90%rh)
• Non-aging and thus long shelf life of the blister pack

More than this, the laminate generates noticeable cost savings by blister surface reduction, higher machine output, low costs for tooling and production equipment and optimised secondary packaging for minimised blister card size.

®PENTAPHARM ACLAR S03

PENTAPHARM ACLAR S03 films are designed to thermoform in the same operating range as PVC mono film. In addition, the films' formulations are available from moderate to ultra-high moisture barrier protection.

With the PVC skins providing the product and machine contact side the Pentapharm Aclar S03 films have a very low co-efficient of friction to prevent blocking on preheat platens. This improves material flow during thermoforming and provides more even material distribution of the Aclar layer in the blister cavity and thereby an improvement in moisture barrier of the package. The films can still be run on standard PVC (vinyl) tooling and are sealable to a wide range of PVC compatible push-through and peelable lidstocks.
