The Pentapharm® alfoil® PVdC-coated polymer film product line has been extended to include Pentapharm alfoil E S03 films for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products requiring ultra-high moisture and oxygen-barrier performance in a transparent film.
Pentapharm alfoil E S03 films are the only high moisture and oxygen-barrier PVdC-coated films in a three-layer symmetrical structure designed for higher performance on packaging lines. Klöckner Pentaplast is the only global supplier to offer this new film in a symmetrical structure.
Available in three-layer (PVC/PVdC/PVC) structures for ultra-high moisture and oxygen-barrier product requirements, Pentapharm alfoil E S03 films have excellent thermoforming properties and mechanical stability as compared to conventional PVdC-coated films. In addition, Pentapharm alfoil E S03 films have excellent clarity for transparent blisters, and the high-crystallinity PVdC dispersion allows for higher barrier levels at competitive costs.
Pentapharm alfoil E S03 films thermoform in the same temperature range as PVC mono-film, and the PVC skins offer a low coefficient-of-friction, preventing blocking on preheat plates and offering more consistent material flow during the thermoforming process. In addition, Pentapharm alfoil E S03 films are symmetrical, which improves lay-flat of finished packages, resulting in higher productivity in blister packing operations. They are also ultrasonically sealable to vinyl face-seal cards without coatings. These films are sealable to all standard vinyl-compatible lidstocks (available in transparent clear and opaque colors) and they are compliant with the relevant European and other international regulatory standards including US FDA requirements (DMF #3764) for use in pharmaceutical packaging.
"Pentapharm alfoil E S03 films were developed to offer customers a high performing and easy-to-use blister film for pharmaceuticals requiring ultra-high moisture and oxygen-barrier performance," notes Hans-Dieter Laux, Klöckner Pentaplast's European manager for marketing and sales of pharmaceutical films. "The expansion of our pharmaceutical film range to include this film, along with our existing Pentapharm PVdC, ACLAR®, and COC barrier films, continues to provide our customers with the broadest available selection of films for moisture-sensitive products.
