The Wallet Pack - a trend with a future
03 March 2005 11:39
In recent years the Swabian machinery manufacturer
Harro Höfliger Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH has sold more than 20 complete lines for the manufacture of wallet packs, which makes it one of the leading companies in this field of technology.
It is quite well known in the pharmaceutical industry that the wallet pack is more than just a trendy pack. Virtually all the
large pharmaceutical companies have invested in this pack form. In particular new and relatively expensive drugs, that also have yet to prove themselves in the retail trade, are marketed in this pack.
Besides the high marketing value and the enhanced protection functions (e.g. child safety, originality) the reason for this is the production technology that is available. At Höfliger, manufactured lines are therefore built up from individual basic modules.
Each basic module performs a step in a process, meaning that machines can be individually designed. So it is possible on the one hand to take individual packaging development wishes fully into consideration without having to depart from the basic concept of the line. On the other hand standard functions can
be integrated from existing developments.
In contrast to most machine concepts of other manufacturers, Höfliger offers the technology to supply the market in the performance range of between 60 and 400 wallets.
The operator of a Höfliger line also has a choice of several
line design variants with different processes for connecting
the pack components with the carrier card and for pack closure.
In the hotmelt process the glue is applied inline in tracks.
The feed and pressing-on of a pack component or a folding process always follow a gluing process. The heat-seal lacquer process offers completely different options. The surfaces of the wallet blanks precoated with sealing lacquer are laid one on the other and heated in a sealing unit. A fixed, separable connection, which is no longer nondestructive, is created by means of the appropriate sealing pressure.
Make yourself a picture of the efficiency and possibilities provided by Höfliger wallet technology at the Interpack 2005 Trade Fair, to be held from 21.04.05-27.04.05 in Düsseldorf / Germany.
