MIP Technologies - Selective Phases Based on Molecularly Imprinted Polymers for Analytical, Preparative and Process Scale SeparationsMIP Technologies is a biotechnology company working at the boundary between chemistry and material science. The company uses proprietary technology, based on molecularly imprinted polymers, for the development of separation products. In addition to strong know-how and intellectual property, the company has developed a technology platform enabling the rapid and economic development of custom-made separation phases with superior properties. A key advantage of these phases is that they are selective, leading to lower detection limits, better efficiency and improved productivity in the separation or extraction of chemical compounds from complex mixtures. MIP Technologies is a pioneer in the commercial applications of molecular imprinting and is located in Lund, Sweden. SELECTIVE SPE PHASES BASED ON MOLECULARLY IMPRINTED POLYMERSSupelMIP™ SPE products are a range of selective SPE phases based on molecularly imprinted polymers. They are designed to extract trace levels of analytes or analyte classes from complex biological matrices, with benefits such as lower detection limits, significant time and cost savings, and improved MS compatibility. MIP Technologies has an exclusive global distribution agreement with Supelco, a division of Sigma-Aldrich, for the distribution of SupelMIP products. CUSTOM SPE SELECTIVE PHASESMIP Technologies also designs and produces custom SPE selective phases for particular analytes or analyte classes of interest. These can be used in the extraction of a wide range of pharmaceutical, therapeutic and recreational drugs, as well as for banned substances, environmental pollutants and agricultural residues. MIP separation phases meet the demanding high-throughput analysis requirements of today's drugs. Tailor-made to individual and specific requirements, the characteristics of the MIP phases produced are exploited in the selective and reproducible extraction of target analytes, resulting in clean extracts. This is of particular importance for today's highly potent drugs where therapeutic doses are at ultra-low concentrations, or in bioanalysis where development of methods for drugs and their metabolites is a time-consuming and often costly procedure. Using specific MIPs, procedures can be streamlined and specific extraction protocols can be easily developed. MIP Technologies employs a strict confidentiality arrangement with its customers. PROCESS SCALE MEDIAMIP Technologies' process scale media for selective purification can be engineered for an essentially unlimited variety of small molecules, including chiral molecules or where feasible, small molecule modifications to proteins / peptides (e.g. phosphorylation and glycosylation) and peptides or carbohydrates. Furthermore, selectivity towards one specific molecule or a class of related molecules can be designed into the MIP phase. Examples of application areas include:
SEPARATION AND EXTRACTION MATERIALS FOR PROCESS SCALE APPLICATIONSMIP Technologies develops and produces material from the mg scale up to multi-kilogram scale in-house, and at the ton scale with ISO and GMP-certified polymer production partners. Our separation and extraction materials for process scale applications can be developed to operate in different separation / extraction formats (e.g. HPLC, SMB, LPLC or non-chromatographic batch type). In the development phase we work closely with partners to engineer a material that will meet demanding separation or extraction challenges. In the earliest phase, we start with a screening protocol where polymerisation parameters are varied using statistical models (e.g. experimental design) in order to find a selective MIP in the most efficient manner possible. We then provide sufficient material for evaluation and approval, before proceeding to the pilot scale phase. LOW BATCH-TO-BATCH VARIATIONMIP Technologies has a pilot-scale facility for production of material at the 10kg/batch week level. To ensure high reproducibility of our products we work according to ISO 9001:2000. MIP Technologies works under stringent quality conditions. The company's well-equipped QC laboratories ensure high product quality and low batch-to-batch variations.
