AstraZeneca has paid settlements totalling $198m to claimants who suffered ill effects after taking anti-psychotic drug Seroquel.
The London-based drug manufacturer had faced thousands of product liability lawsuits over claims that AstraZeneca's drug caused diabetes and other injuries without adequate warnings of the risks.
The agreements settled in principle with attorneys represent almost 17,500 liability claims.
As of 29 June, a further 2,900 cases had been dismissed by agreement, and 1,825 of those cases had been dismissed with prejudice.
