New Guidelines to Clear up Pharmaceutical Waste - Wednesday, November 12, 2008
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the US has proposed new guidelines to better manage the collection and disposal of hazardous pharmaceutical waste across America. The EPA argues that pharmaceutical waste is often mismanaged due to healthcare workers and retail chain employees being unfamiliar with the regulations as they stand today. Simplifying the waste clean-up process will benefit healthcare facilities, retail pharmacies and veterinary clinics. As was discussed at the Pharmaceutical and Power Generation Water Treatment conference in September, getting these issues right today will make a big difference for future generations.
