TSO (The Stationery Office), on behalf of the British Pharmacopoeia Secretariat of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), has just published the British Pharmacopoeia (BP) 2012.

Since 1864, the BP has been providing authoritative standards for medicinal products and pharmaceutical substances and it continues to play an important role in the standard-setting process worldwide. Now used in over 100 countries, the BP remains an essential reference for all individuals and organisations working within pharmaceutical research and development, manufacture and testing across the globe.

The standards in the BP 2012 are legally effective in the UK from 1 January 2012. New content includes 35 new monographs for formulated preparations, additional standards for widely used unlicensed medicines and European Pharmacopoeia 7th edition text up to and including supplement 7.2.

The BP 2012 package comprises:

  • A six-volume printed edition including the BP (Veterinary) 2012
  • A single-user licence to the BP 2012 CD-ROM which enables the complete text to be installed, together with searching and linking functionality, directly onto a laptop or PC
  • A single-user licence to the BP Online via the British Pharmacopoeia website enabling access to the full text of the BP 2012 with enhanced search functionality
  • Free in-year updates in January, April and July, to harmonise with the European Pharmacopoeia

TSO export sales manager Dean Cooper says: “The BP provides essential information for anyone producing pharmaceutical products for the UK market. The wide range of formats in which the BP 2012 is available ensures that our customers can access the information they need whenever and wherever they want it.”

Concurrent user licences to the BP Online are also available, enabling several people in an organisation to access the BP simultaneously through any workstation. For more information on concurrent user licences contact pharmahealth@tso.co.uk.

The BP 2012 print, CD-ROM and online package is priced at £830, ISBN 9780113228690, and can be ordered from TSO’s online bookshop, www.tsoshop.co.uk/BP2012.
