GlobalData Epidemiologist Report: Global Covid cases near 97 million – trending down in USA, India, Brazil

Globally, the total confirmed cases of Covid-19 have reached over 96,971,000 with over 2,077,000 deaths and 53,501,000 recoveries.

The US, India, and Brazil remain the top three most affected countries worldwide with decreasing trends of new daily confirmed cases observed across all.

Within the US, California remains the worst affected state with the highest total number of confirmed cases at over 3,063,000.

There have been over 34,500 total reported deaths in California, which is second only to New York where over 41,500 total deaths have been reported since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, restrictions are starting to ease in Australia following reports of zero community transmission of the Covid-19 virus early last week.

However, many states remain cautious about easing restrictions ahead of Australia Day on January 26, seeking to avoid potential super-spreading events on the national holiday.
