GlobalData Epidemiologist Report: Global Covid cases pass 31.9 million – India could overtake US infection count

Globally, the total confirmed cases of Covid-19 have reached over 31,920,000 with more than 977,000 deaths and 22,002,000 recoveries.

The US, India and Brazil remain top three worst-hit countries.

India has started reopening tourist attractions and easing restrictions to revive its economy.

The Taj Mahal reopened for the first time in six months with a 5,000 visitor cap per day.

India now reports over 5.7 million cases of Covid-19, if new daily cases continue to increase India may overtake the US as the worst hit country.

Poland reported its highest number of new daily cases since the pandemic started, at 1,136 cases on 24 September.

Russia has recorded more than 1 million total confirmed cases of Covid-19 with Moscow is the top affected region.

Italy has been more effective at controlling the second Covid wave than Spain and the UK.

On 23 September, Italy reported 1,640 new cases while Spain and the UK reported 11, 289 cases and 6,186 cases, respectively.
