GlobalData Epidemiologist Report: Global Covid cases pass 59.3 million – third wave hits South Korea

Globally, the total confirmed cases of Covid-19 have reached over 59,342,000 with over 1,399,000 deaths and 38,010,000 recoveries.

The US, India and Brazil continue to take the lead as the most heavily affected countries, making up 47% of the world’s total confirmed cases.

An increase in daily cases is reported in the Americas, predominantly driven by the US and Brazil.

Although new daily cases in Europe are starting to decrease, Andorra reports the highest number of total confirmed cases per 1 million population worldwide.

South Korea is experiencing a third wave of the virus, and an emergency period has been declared in the capital, Seoul, until the end of the year.

Restrictions have been put on bars, restaurants, and religious gatherings to curb the spread of infection.

In Australia, the state of Victoria has continued to relax restrictions after 24 consecutive days without a new infection.
