US Covid-19 related deaths skew world percentage trend

By Paul Dennis

The USA continues to see Covid-19 related death numbers rise, which has adversely affected the world percentage change. Meanwhile, results from Italy and Spain offer some encouragement. Stable reductions in daily Covid-19 deaths in Italy and Spain give cause for hope.

The tracker uses rolling three-day averages rather than the official death tallies announced by governments each day. That helps to give a more accurate picture by smoothing out data “noise” that can appear in total for specific days – for example, Mondays tending to see more deaths because of delayed reporting at weekend.
