7 July

Globally, the total confirmed cases of Covid-19 have reached over 184,653,000, with more than 3,994,000 deaths and over 134,068,000 recoveries reported.

Covid-19 cases are still rising worldwide.

The US is still the most heavily affected country but cases there are rising less rapidly than in India and Brazil.

Countries in Asia are currently heavily affected, with Bangladesh reporting the highest number of new Covid-19 infections since the start of the pandemic.

In Europe, Cyprus, Portugal, and Russia have also seen a rise in new cases across the last week.

The increase in new cases worldwide has led to dozens of countries, including South Africa, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Thailand, implementing new travel bans and tighter lockdowns to reduce the spread.

However, the UK has announced the end to most legal restrictions and the wearing of facemasks from 19 July.
