Pharmaceutical companies are continuing to provide aid and support for victims of the tsunami and 9.0-magnitude earthquake that struck Japan last week.
Abbott is providing $3m through its philanthropic foundation, the Abbott Fund, to support immediate relief efforts. The donation will be provided to the Japanese Red Cross through the American Red Cross and AmeriCares.
US-based biotechnology firm Amgen has donated $1m to Japanese disaster relief efforts, distributing funds to Direct Relief International and International Medical Corps.
The donations hope to bring basic needs and vital health services to those in dire need.
