Lance Sandwich Crackers will become the signature sponsor of the Juvenile Diabetes Research and Foundations’ Walk to Cure Diabetes programme in the US.
The food manufacturer will support the organisation’s efforts to find better treatments and a cure for type 1 diabetes.
Lance will sponsor the JDRF 2011–2012 Walk to Cure Diabetes in five cities; Charlotte, Boston, Atlanta, Phoenix, and Cleveland.
Claude O’Connor, senior vice-president of marketing for Lance Sandwich Crackers’ parent company, Snyder’s-Lance, said, “We are excited to partner with Juvenile Diabetes Research and Foundation to raise awareness and funding for an issue that is important to our consumers.
“Giving back to our communities is a big part of our corporate culture, and we hope to continue this partnership in the future to help donate more to diabetes research.”
More than 500,000 people from corporations, schools, and families across the US participate at the event each year. In 2010, JDRF’s Walk to Cure Diabetes raised $86m to fund research for diabetes and its complications.
