A new low-density polyethylene (LDPE) grade for pharmaceutical packaging with higher sterilisation temperature resistance has been launched by LyondellBasell.
The Purell PE 3420F resin is cost effective when blow-fill-seal technology is used for infusion of bottles and also provides wall thickness reduction potential, the company said.
The LDPE can extend the shelf life of products while maintaining wall thickness at previous levels, according to LyondellBasell.
LyondellBasell’s manager for technical service and application development for healthcare applications Dr Patrik Schneider said the product is suitable for customers who decide to employ higher sterilisation temperatures.
“Purell PE 3420F resins can address this challenge for customers by providing shorter sterilisation times and reduced associated costs through the use of higher temperatures,” Schneider said.
