Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies are working on a record number of medicines for diseases affecting women, according to a new report.

Details of a new report by Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America in Women’s Health Weekly show that there are 969 new medicines in development.

This includes 112 new treatments for breast cancer and 86 new treatments for obstetric and gynaecologic conditions.

The medicines are awaiting approval from the US Food and Drug Administration or are in human clinical trials.
