Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals has launched a new tool for the Apple iPhone, which will help patients taking Betaseron (interferon beta-1b) to manage their multiple sclerosis (MS) treatment.

The application, called myBETAapp, provides tools that are customised for interferon beta-1b patients, making it the first application developed for use with a specific MS medication.

The application provides patients with injection reminders, injection site rotation assistance and injection history, and provides access to other online educational tools, peer support and contacts.

Betaseron is indicated for the treatment of relapsing forms of MS to reduce the frequency of clinical exacerbations.
