Italy and Spain – the two European countries hit hardest by Covid-19 – appear to be on a stable downward curve in terms of deaths recorded each day.
Both nations have seen sustained drops over the last four days in our Covid-19 case tracker.
The USA continues to see death numbers rise while the picture in UK remains too volatile to draw firm conclusions.
The tracker uses rolling three-day averages rather than the official death tallies announced by governments each day. That helps to give a more accurate picture but smoothing out data “noise” that can appear in total for specific days – for example, Mondays tending to see more deaths because of delayed reporting at weekend.
