The facility features two International Organization for Standardization-7 (ISO-7) cleanrooms alongside five ISO-8 multifunctional cleanrooms for GMP small molecule production and material handling.

It was established to help developers address industry-wide production challenges, including the need to standardise workflows, reduce batch variability, and scale output from initial research through to commercialisation while complying with evolving regulatory expectations.

Industry discussions have increasingly pointed to manufacturing scalability as a central requirement for broadening patient access to advanced cell therapies.

Bio-Techne president and CEO Kim Kelderman said: “As the cell therapy field continues to mature, success increasingly depends on the ability to manufacture therapies consistently and at scale.

“Our investment in Bristol demonstrates Bio-Techne’s commitment to providing customers with the GMP materials, manufacturing expertise, and supply chain reliability needed to accelerate development and ultimately bring transformative therapies to patients worldwide.”

The Bristol site expands the company’s manufacturing operations across the UK and the US. Bio-Techne also operates recombinant protein production in Minneapolis, Minnesota, alongside GMP facilities in St Paul.

In conjunction with cell culture device maker Wilson Wolf Corporation, developer of the G-Rex platform, Bio-Techne supplies analytical solutions, custom manufacturing services, GMP cell media, proteins, small molecules, and process development support across the cell therapy workflow.

Headquartered in Minnesota, Bio-Techne operates across 34 locations worldwide and employs over 3,000 people.

During fiscal year 2025, the company generated net sales exceeding $1.2bn.

It supplies biopharmaceutical companies, academic researchers, clinical diagnostic laboratories, and biotechnology firms with over 500,000 products across three commercial divisions: Bio-Techne Diagnostics, Bio-Techne Spatial, and R&D Systems.
