Cytokine bioassay services, monoclonal antibody production and purified recombinant cytokine production

Our array of cytokine bioassay services is the most comprehensive in the US, and our proprietary processes have achieved commercial production of 30 monoclonal antibodies and over 24 highly purified recombinant cytokines, currently sold to the scientific community worldwide. A few of our most popular products include activin A, BMP-7, HGF, human and murine interleukin 12 (IL-12) and TGF-b1.

We are continually developing new assays and would be pleased to add others upon your request. We can ensure strict confidentiality, superior execution and cost-effectiveness. The expected turnover time per assay is less than two weeks, and a written report including methods, results and conclusions will be issued.

Measuring cell activity using a non-radioactive substrate

Most of the bioassays are based on a colorimetric method of measuring cell activity using a non-radioactive substrate. This assay has been proven to be equivalent to the [3H]thymidine incorporated assay (Cell Signaling Applications Guide, Promega Corporation). The compound and the standard (if required) are reconstituted, serial diluted and incubated with the cells over a 20hr to 96hr period.

Cell-based cytokine assays

We currently provide the most comprehensive cell-based cytokine assays in the US. Our array of cytokine bioassay services has already accelerated discovery and development programs in numerous biopharmaceuticals companies. In addition, we have developed and implemented many new assays that have become industry standards, including:

Custom bioassay development

SBH Sciences provides complete custom bioassay development. Our experience in bioassay development allows us to quickly develop custom assays to fit most applications.

Our in vitro bioassay services will assist in assessing the mechanism of action for monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins and small molecule therapeutics across a range of disease states, including cardiovascular, inflammation, immunology, oncology and CNS disorders.

In vitro cytotoxicity testing

We currently have over 80 different cancer and non-cancer cell lines, as well as numerous primary human cells (e.g., HEKa, HUVEC, HMVEC and NHDF). We perform anti-cancer drug testing, and can analyze the biological activity of your compound by itself or in combination with known anti-cancer drugs.

Please contact us with any request for cell-based toxicity testing. We can perform any non-radioactive cytotoxicity assay and we can order any new cell line and custom-develop your assay according to your needs. There are currently 26 anti-cancer drugs available for research purposes at SBH Sciences.

ELISA development kit services

SBH Sciences provides contract ELISA development kit services for the R&D and IVD community. We have developed over 20 highly sensitive and accurate colorimetric sandwich ELISA kits for the measurement of cytokines and biomarkers.

Our kits include cytokines, biomarkers / cancer and apoptosis markers. Moreover, we provide in-house optimization to verify the impact of various serum / plasma / cell cultures on your PK / PD study.

We will develop and provide a comprehensive instruction manual for performing the assay, but if requested, we can also perform all the testing of your samples at our facility.

Quality control assays

In addition to marketing our products commercially, we have a keen interest in developing contracts and strategic partnerships with others. Our products are not only exceptionally pure and biologically active, but enable us to do quality control assays under contract services.
