The Solvias pandemic plan, developed to reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection at the company’s sites, guarantees the continuation of analytical testing along with synthesis/catalysis and ligand development services.

Thanks to the dedication of our teams and the timely introduction of appropriate safety measures, all sites remain fully operational. Solvias continues to prioritise release testing of samples according to the urgency in terms of the current pandemic as well as government, regulatory and shelf-life requirements.

As the international health crisis continues to evolve, all eyes are on the development of an ideal weapon against the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2): a vaccine. We are encouraged to see a number of vaccine candidates in development around the world and pleased to be able to play an active role. Not only does Solvias have the capabilities to support the development of a potential vaccine for Covid-19, but the company is also well-positioned to assist its customers in the particular challenges of analytical method development and testing for mRNA-based vaccines (for further details, read our article: Solvias supports innovative therapeutic vaccines).

Solvias is further able to support the development of multiple therapeutic options with analytical release testing of all four promising Covid-19 treatments currently being evaluated in the framework of WHO’s ‘Solidarity’ clinical trial: remdesivir, previously tested as a treatment for Ebola, lopinavir/ritonavir, a licensed treatment for HIV, and chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine used to treat malaria and rheumatology conditions respectively. The fourth treatment being tested in combination with the above is interferon beta-1a, a biologic drug used in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. Solvias has extensive experience working with interferon beta-1a and more generally with monograph testing of excipients and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) according to Ph. Eur. or USP.
