As a market leader in speciality phosphates, Chemische Fabrik Budenheim is dedicated to providing innovative calcium phosphates used as excipients and calcium sources in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical formulations.

Budenheim serves the worldwide pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries with the maximum value in quality, service and innovation. Products include calcium phosphates for wet granulation and for direct compression in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications.

Calcium phosphates for direct compression

We offer various types of calcium phosphates for direct compression. These differ in bulk density and particle size and are marketed under the following brand names:

  • DI-CAFOS® – dicalcium phosphate anhydrous and di-hydrate
  • TRI-CAFOS® – tricalciumphosphate

Directly compressible DCPA

DI-CAFOS A 60 is a unique, innovative, directly compressible DCP anhydrous grade (DCPA). It exhibits a bulk density of 1,300g/l to 1,400g/l, which is significantly higher than the 700g/l to 800g/l typically found with other commercial grades of directly compressible DCPA.

Budenheim is dedicated to providing high-purity calcium phosphates used as excipients and calcium sources.
DI-CAFOS A 60 is a unique, directly compressible DCP anhydrous grade (DCPA) with an exceptionally high bulk density.
Budenheim offers a wide range of phosphates for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications.

DI-CAFOS A 60 allows pharmaceutical and nutraceutical formulators the flexibility to choose between creating smaller tablets while maintaining the same calcium and phosphorus content, or keeping tablet sizes constant while increasing the calcium and phosphorus content on the label.

In addition to excellent flowing and tabletting properties, DI-CAFOS A 60 also exhibits other important features resulting from the high bulk density, such as:

  • Bigger batch size
  • Faster discharging during tabletting or capsule-filling process
  • Higher production throughput

High-purity phosphates

Our calcium phosphates fulfil all the requirements of major pharmacopeias (e.g. USP, Pharm. Eur. (PE)) and food regulations (e.g. FCC, EC/96/77).

Budenheim was one of the first chemical companies in Germany to reach ISO 9001 and 14001 certification. Budenheim has implemented a HACCP system and operates in accordance to current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP). One major plant has already been certified in 2009.

The low lead content of our dicalcium and tricalcium phosphates enables customers to formulate calcium supplements in compliance with California Proposition 65.

Phosphates for pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals

In addition to calcium phosphates, Budenheim offers also a wide range of other products for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications, such as:

  • Magnesium phosphates
  • Ferric pyrophosphates and orthophosphates
  • Sodium phosphates
  • Potassium phosphates

These are used as excipients, buffers and efficient mineral sources.
