A two-day workshop, jointly organized by Micromeritics Instrument Corporation and ETH Zurich, on the preparation, characterization, and application of advanced porous materials will take place in Zurich, Switzerland, 22-23 August. Chaired by Prof. Javier Pérez-Ramírez and Dr. Jeffrey Kenvin, the event will promote the exchange of knowledge and ideas between participants in a stimulating and informal environment. This workshop is recommended for scientists and engineers involved in the research and development of products and processes where porous materials play a key role.

Lectures by a diverse international group of prominent scientists will explore a variety of subjects related to the characterization and development of advanced porous materials to include: experimental principals and material development; advanced instrumentation and techniques for material characterization; and theoretical fundamentals for material simulation. Types of materials covered will include zeolites, mesoporous silicas, metal organic frameworks (MOFs), and microporous carbons. A range of applications for these materials such as adsorbents, catalysts, ion-exchangers, supports, pharmaceuticals, biomaterials, membranes, super capacitors, and batteries will also be discussed.
