Semaglutide (Rybelsus) is a recombinant DNA produced polypeptide analogue of human glucagon-like peptide-1 produced by yeast fermentation, acts as an anti-diabetic agent. It is formulated as tablets for oral route of administration. Semaglutide is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
