The region now ranks in fourth for the total number of trials taking place, compared to its sixth-placed ranking in 2010.

The region saw a 42% increase in the number of trials.

The United States made up 74.8% the largest proportion of trials taking place in the region.

Canada and Mexico also made up a large amount of the trials taking place with 16.5% and 8.7%, respectively.

Europe

Europe saw the biggest decrease in respiratory trials.

The number of trials in the region fell by 21% between 2010 and 2020.

Spain saw the largest percentage of trials taking place in the region with 10.7%.
