Canada’s pharma industry registered a 1.6% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 8.22% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.61% share in October 2021, recording a decrease of 0.22% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 107.22% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry in October 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 40.21% in October 2021, registering a 25.81% growth over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 31.96% share, an increase of 19.23% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 22.68%, registering a 15.79% rise from September 2021.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.19%, down 40% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 29.79% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry during October 2021 over September 2021.

Bausch Health Companies posted 22 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a rise of 144.44% over the previous month, followed by Alberta Health Services with 15 jobs and a 28.57% drop. Apotex with 10 IT jobs and F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 9 jobs, recorded a 66.67% growth and a 50% growth, respectively, while Trillium Health Partners recorded a flat growth with 5 job postings during October 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.16%, flat growth from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 15.46% share, registered an increase of 66.67% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.37% share, down 25% over September 2021.
