Canada’s pharma industry IT recruitment activity drops 2.4% in July 2022

Canada’s pharma industry registered a 2.4% drop in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 4.18% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.67% share in July 2022, recording a decrease of 0.22% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry in July 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 41.3% in July 2022, registering a 5.56% growth over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 31.52% share, an increase of 26.09% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 11.96%, registering a 35.29% decline from June 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 8.7%, down 11.11% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 74.29% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry during July 2022 over June 2022.

Alberta Health Services posted 39 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a rise of 39.29% over the previous month, followed by ICON with 7 jobs and a 600% growth. Penticton Regional Hospital with 6 IT jobs and Sanofi with 5 jobs, recorded a 20% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Humber River Regional Hospital recorded an increase of 300% with 4 job postings during July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.22%, down by 6.25% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 21.74% share, registered an increase of 17.65% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.04% share, down 7.69% over June 2022.
