Canada’s pharma industry registered an 11.1% rise in IT hiring activity in November 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 11% in November 2021 when compared with October 2021.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.73% share in November 2021, recording a decrease of 0.08% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 106.45% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry in November 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 42.74% in November 2021, registering an 8.16% flat growth over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 31.45% share, an increase of 18.18% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 18.55%, registering a flat growth from October 2021.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 8.87%, up 83.33% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 69.23% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry during November 2021 over October 2021.

Bausch Health Companies posted 38 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a rise of 58.33% over the previous month, followed by Alberta Health Services with 25 jobs and a 66.67% growth. Mackenzie Health with 11 IT jobs and F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 8 jobs, recorded a 1000% flat growth and an 11.11% decrease, respectively, while McKesson recorded an increase of 100% with 6 job postings during November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.58%, up by 16.88% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 15.32% share, registered an increase of 11.76% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.29% share, down 12.5% over October 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.81%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
