
Canada’s pharma industry registered a 6.3% rise in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 4.57% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.
Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.72% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 0.01% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 104.26% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry in September 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 31.91% in September 2021, registering a 33.33% decline over the previous month.
2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 27.66% share, an increase of 52.94% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 20.21%, registering a 46.15% rise from August 2021.
4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 14.89%, up 55.56% over the previous month.
Top five pharma companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 48.65% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry during September 2021 over August 2021.
Alberta Health Services posted 21 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 90.91% over the previous month, followed by Mackenzie Health with 12 jobs and a flat growth. Bausch Health Companies with 10 IT jobs and F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 6 jobs, recorded an 11.11% growth and a 14.29% decrease, respectively, while Apotex recorded a decline of 40% with 6 job postings during September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.4%, up by 40.82% from August 2021. Entry Level positions with a 15.96% share, registered an increase of 50% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 9.57% share, down 71.88% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.06%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
