China’s pharma industry registered an 8.5% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 10.91% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.75% share in September 2021, recording an increase of 0.15% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in China’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.57% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s pharma industry in September 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 71.43% in September 2021, registering a 20.63% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 15.71% share, an increase of 10% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 5.71%, registering a flat growth from August 2021.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 2.86%, down 84.62% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 28.07% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s pharma industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

Parexel International posted 11 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a drop of 38.89% over the previous month, followed by Pfizer with 11 jobs and a 57.14% growth. Sanofi with 8 IT jobs and F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 7 jobs, recorded a 55.56% decline and a 46.15% decrease, respectively, while Shijiazhuang Yiling Pharmaceutical recorded an increase of 300% with 4 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 70%, down by 9.26% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 22.86% share, registered an increase of 6.67% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 4.29% share, down 84.21% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.86%, recording a month-on-month increase of 100%.
