October 2021 has seen a decrease of 4.3% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.62% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering an increase of 0.22% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 53.14% in October 2021, a 15.18% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 20.47% in October 2021, marking a 22.58% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 12.39% in October 2021, a 6.76% drop from September 2021.

Top five pharma companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 46.04% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s pharma industry during October 2021 over previous month.
AstraZeneca posted 53 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered an increase of 381.82% over the previous month, followed by F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 52 jobs and a 40.54% growth. GlaxoSmithKline with 34 IT jobs and MerckInc with 34 jobs, recorded a 6.25% rise and an 112.5% rise, respectively, while Sanofi recorded a 30.23% decline with 30 job postings during October 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s pharma industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 21.72% share in October 2021, a 1.68% increase over September 2021. Germany featured next with a 16.52% share, up 8.24% over the previous month. Poland recorded an 11.67% share, a growth of 85.71% compared with September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.12%, up by 16.5% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 23.88% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.57% share, up 7.69% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.44%, recording a month-on-month growth of 33.33%.
