South & Central America witnessed a 10.2% drop in IT hiring activity in the pharma industry in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

September 2021 has seen an increase of 1.12% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.37% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering an increase of 0.03% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 39.29% in September 2021, a 35.29% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 32.14% in September 2021, marking a 28.57% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 17.86% in September 2021, a 400% rise from August 2021.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 10.71% in September 2021, a 66.67% decline over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 12.5% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s pharma industry during September 2021 over previous month.

MerckInc posted 4 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered an increase of 33.33% over the previous month, followed by PSI CRO with 3 jobs and a flat growth. F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 3 IT jobs and Hypera with 2 jobs, recorded a 62.5% drop and a flat growth, respectively, while GlaxoSmithKline recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during September 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s pharma industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 25% share in September 2021, a 50% decrease over August 2021. Argentina featured next with a 25% share, down 12.5% over the previous month. Costa Rica recorded a 21.43% share, a drop of 57.14% compared with August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.71%, down by 45.16% from August 2021. Entry Level positions with a 25% share, registered a growth of 250% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 14.29% share, down 42.86% over August 2021.
