The UK’s pharma industry registered a 7.9% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 13.67% in November 2021 when compared with October 2021.
Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.17% share in November 2021, recording an increase of 0.34% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.08% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s pharma industry in November 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 53.92% in November 2021, registering a 25.68% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 21.57% share, a decrease of 4.35% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 10.78%, registering a 15.38% decline from October 2021.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 5.88%, down 14.29% over the previous month.
Top five pharma companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 28.36% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s pharma industry during November 2021 over October 2021.
GlaxoSmithKline posted 16 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a rise of 23.08% over the previous month, followed by Bausch Health Companies with 15 jobs and a 25% growth. Charles River Laboratories International with 7 IT jobs and Parexel International with 5 jobs, recorded a 41.67% decline and a 28.57% decrease, respectively, while AstraZeneca recorded a decline of 78.26% with 5 job postings during November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.59%, down by 2.7% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 20.59% share, registered a decline of 40% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.84% share, down 27.27% over October 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.98%, recording a month-on-month decline of 80%.
