India-based IT giant Infosys has announced plans for a series of investments in Canada that will create between 7,000 and 8,000 jobs in the country by 2024. Central to the plans is the opening of a new subsidiary, Infosys Public Services Canada, which will accelerate digital transformation for public sector organisations across the country, including federal departments, provincial ministries, municipalities and crown corporations, while providing access to IT solutions to improve the delivery of government services to Canadians.

Infosys will open a new office in Mississauga in the province of Ontario, another in Burnaby, which is a neighbour of Vancouver in British Columbia, and another office in Calgary in the province of Alberta.

In a statement on the company’s website, Infosys Public Services interim CEO Bhanu Prasad said: “The Canadian incorporation of Infosys Public Services Canada underscores our continued commitment to our public sector clients, as we help them modernise service delivery for Canadian citizens and businesses. Our offices will enable us to tap into strong local talent across the country to support continued business growth in the region.”

Infosys is one of the largest digital services and consulting companies in the world, employing more than 300,000 people across some 56 countries.
