In recent years, there has been strong discourse in the blood cancer space around the best way to treat patients as the industry’s focus sharpens on keeping a patient’s cancer at bay while maintaining their quality of life (QoL).
As this shift occurs, there has been growing debate towards the place that allogeneic stem cell transplants (ASCTs) and chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapies (CAR-T) should play in the treatment paradigm – with some experts in the multiple myeloma space evaluating the potential of CAR-Ts in the frontline setting, after they have revolutionised care in refractory patients.
In this episode of the GlobalData Healthcare podcast, Pharmaceutical Technology reporter Annabel Kartal-Allen sits down with Inspire2Live patient advocates, Jonathan Clark and Peter Kapitein, who share their experiences receiving treatment for mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) and follicular lymphoma (FL), respectively. While Clark has received both an ASCT and a CAR-T therapy, Kapitein has had only an ASCT, but this proved successful for him.
The pair also discuss what sponsors should be looking to achieve with a cancer therapy from a patients lens, as innovation in the space intensifies and outcomes continue to improve.
