The allergy drug desloratadine has been proven to reduce nasal congestion and the common symptoms of hayfever, a study has shown.
The second-generation drug that has a brand name of Clarinex reduces the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, commonly known as hayfever, which include sneezing and itchy eyes as well as nasal congestion.
Second-generation allergy drugs are non-sedating but are generally less effective in reducing nasal congestion than decongestants, according to Reuters.
A report in the journal Allergy showed that desloratadine was significantly more effective in both areas against a placebo.
