SOPHI was designed using Erdmann Design’s model for identity establishing brand development accompanying human-centred design.

Designed for better control of anterior chamber stability during surgery, this battery-powered phaco system is equipped with fast and responsive triple-pump fluidics. It operates fully without any disturbing connection cables and is equipped with an integrated air compressor.

This simple and ergonomic design offers excellent support to the surgical team. It has innovative assistance features that facilitate ease of handling.

Sophi’s pioneering and smart design of consumables leads to high functionality and economic benefits. It benefits the whole team and is designed to bring mobility, simplicity and safety to a new level.

Revealed at the Annual Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) in 2018, SOPHI implements the design and branding developed by a team of developers headed by Thomas Köppel, CEO of the Swiss company This AG in Heerbrugg.

Erdmann Design was chosen to carry out the tasks of naming, branding, screen and UX design, as well as human-centred product design for the project. The result is a user-friendly, technically highly innovative product. The brand SOPHI is self-explanatory and, at the same time, conveys an emotional quality that is welcomed by everyone.
